Millbrook Primary School Offer

Support available to all children with SEN

Here at Millbrook the emphasis is first and foremost on teaching and learning support. School staff monitor children's progress regularly and meet their educational needs through differentiated learning objectives, success criteria (steps to success) and tasks pitched to their individual levels or needs.

Sometimes children may simply fall behind or require catch up lessons to bring them back in line with their peers. Interventions are put in place where appropriate to close the gap and help remove barriers to learning.

Types of interventions available include:

  • 1:1 Read Write Inc (RWI) tutoring
  • In an Instant Maths
  • Rapid Phonics
  • Rapid Maths
  • Cool Kids
  • Speech and Language Programs
  • Tim Fin (Writing/Language Programme)

Some children may need support in accessing the curriculum through the use of equipment.

Types of equipment available include:

  • Sloping board/writing slope
  • Pencil grip
  • Wobble cushions
  • Foot and leg support boards
  • Specialist pens and pencils
  • Privacy screens
  • Coloured overlays or pastel paper
  • Reading rulers
  • Fidget toys or tactile stress balls
  • ICT equipment
